This Journey Journal: Washington, DC and Nearby Historic Sites provides a format and mechanism for this process.  The book provides the structure and journal writing prompts many students need to learn the process of thoughtful reflective journaling, a lost art for many persons in our text messaging society.  

This book provide students clear and concise expectations for their field trip experience, while giving the teacher an objective way to measure the learning outcomes of the field trip.  There are additional blank journal pages near the back for any sites not pre-formatted in the book, as well as a field trip summary and teacher grading rubric.
