ADHD Recommendations
Items and resources I use to improve the lives of students, teachers, and parents.
Excellent resource
Provides lesson plans for counseling students with behaviors from:
Trauma
ADHD
Autism
Depression
Conduct Disorder
I often reference this when writing behavior support plans.
Oral sensory input
Have a student constantly chewing his/her shirt? Cannot chew gum? Chew on Chewlry. These are my favorite for elementary school boys, but there are several different styles.
Sit and Move seat
Lately the Occupational Therapists with whom I work have recommended this for students with ADHD and sensory needs in the classroom.
My favorite impulse control resource
Teaching impulse control to ADHD students has never been more fun.
Help them explain their feelings
Every psychologist and counseling office should have this poster and use it regularly.
Understanding ADHD
An insightful account on what ADHD is and is not. Critical for parents and anyone who has not studied the impact of ADHD.
Like wearing a hug. These calm children
There are several versions and sizes to choose from, but when all else fails these have worked. The weight calms behavior and some are stylish.
A practical approach to emotions
Read it. As a parent, school psychologist, or therapist it will change, simplify, and focus your guidance on creating resiliency. Resiliency leads to lifelong improvement to bounce back from challenges.
